Everleigh's First Birthday! Decorations and Food!

Finally! (the party was over a month ago!)

No recipe today, just pictures from Everleigh's party and some commentary. :)

The theme was Gerber Daisies and her colors were Pink, Orange and Blue. I love this color combination and after spending months looking for anything these colors in the stores, I am totally drawn to them now!

Door Sign I made.

The Candy Buffet
I made the banner. It says "Sweet E's Sweets."
I loved it!

The candy was all color coordinated; pink, blue and orange.
I decorated various sizes of glass jars and bowls with ribbons and labels that told what the candy was.
I affixed everything using a glue gun so that it was easily removed afterwards and I can use these jars all over my house!

This is the food table. We did hot dogs with a toppings buffet.

I used sliced oranges as vase filler for the centerpiece, I loved the way this turned out. The sign in the center of the picture says "Hot Dog Birthday Bar", "Lots of toppings to choose from"", and "Be Creative!". The mustards and ketchup are in a divided tin condiment bucket that I decorated with ribbon and a fake flower. The pink and blue picture frames I already had and had purchased at Marshall's last year. I wish I'd bought ten of them.
The hot dog toppings I included were pickles, relish, red peppers, green peppers, banana peppers, jalepenos, onions, pickled onions, bacon, mayo, blue cheese, cheddar, jack cheese, saurkraut, lettuce, chili, pico de gallo, salsa, tomatoes, horseradish, hot sauce, ketchup, yellow mustard, honey mustard and dijon mustard. It was great fun! I don't know what sort of creations everyone else came up with but mine were bacon and blue cheese with a little yellow mustard, mayo and saurkraut. They were SO good. (There, there is your "recipe" for the day!) :)

I made this pennant banner. I loved making the signs/banners because I could pick out the colors and patterns.
I am a pattern freak and gush over damasks and paisleys so it was important to have them in the decor.

This is the 12 month banner I made. It has a picture of Everleigh from every month of her first year along with the month it was taken.
I decorated each picture with ribbons and stickers, scrapbooking style.

This is the cake table. I'm not super proud of the cake/cupcake situation but I will get to that later. The mat around the picture was signed by all of her guests and will hang in her bedroom. The orange and pink flowers are fake from Hobby Lobby. The Cupcake toppers were 3D scrapbooking stickers that I stuck onto toothpicks (this was a VERY last minute save). The book is her baby book that I had recently completed for her. (complete up to that day anyway).

These frames are wall decals and the pictures were printed on Post-It Matte Adhesive Picture Paper. I didn't even know this stuff existed, but came across it in my desk drawer. It was in a goody bag I got for running the 3M Half-Marathon back in 2009. The frames were on clearance at Michael's. This was one fun, easy, cheap decoration!

This is the high chair skirt I made with all the leftover tulle from Everleigh's party tutu. I made it just like any no-sew tutu. I interspersed the tulle with ribbon. I connected it to the tray with sticky, removable velcro strips. Also in my 3M goody bag!

This was a fun banner to make! I cut flower shapes out of tissue paper and then sewed them in one long line on my sewing machine. The tissue is stacked in layers of 3 but a single layer would work as well. To easily make the flowers I folded squares into quarters and rounded the corners. Unfold and voila! a flower!

This is Everleigh in her first birthday outfit. I purchased the iron on flower applique and put in on a plain pink onesie. I made the tutu from three colors of tulle and ribbon. It ended up being too big because I forgot to do a final fitting after resizing it earlier that week.

Party Parents!

Here you can sort of see that the skirt was too big but also that it works.

Readjusting...

Happy Family. (I had a matching daisy in my hair)

Sweet E eyeing her cousin's hot dog....
All in all in turned out spectacular! E had a great time and I believe my guests did as well. I will post again to talk about the cake disaster and include more pictures of Everleigh opening gifts in outfit #2!

  1. Everything looks great! Can't believe you decorated it all by yourself. Nice work.
